Best type of suitcase for train travel?

Mrs. Fly and I normally take one each 26" and 27" rolling, hard suitcase on trips of 2 weeks or longer. We haven't had any problems with them, but it would depend on your physical condition and how often you'll be moving from one town to another.
Getting suitcases that size on and off a train once every 3 or 4 days hasn't been any big deal for us. They'll also often fit between two train seats turned back-to-back.
For shorter trips, we usually take airplane carry-on size soft side, rollers.
Really, it's not like you're having to deal with your suitcases 8 or 9 times a day, every day of your trip. For most people, we're talking about a couple of minutes to get things straightened out--I wouldn't freak out over it.
