Best train route from Rome to Siena

There are two different routes from Rome to Siena.

One goes along the western coast for a little while and then through Grosseto, Montepescali, Civitella-Paganico, Buonconvento and Monteroni d'Arbia.

The other goes northeast and then cuts northwest at Chiusi-Chianciano Terme and through Montepulciano, Torrita di Siena, Sinalunga, Rapolano Termo and Asciano.

Thanks

So, are you wanting to know about which would have the best scenery? You should already know which one is quicker and cheaper.

Actually, they are about the same length of time. Yes, I was wondering about scenery.

The best way from Rome to Siena is by bus from the Tiburtina station. Faster and drops at several locations in town.

Hi C,

Both your routes require a change of trains.

In addition, the train station is about 1.5 km outside Siena.

Have you considered taking the bus from Rome Tiburtina directly into Siena for only 5E?
