We stayed at hotel teatro. nice room and great breakfast in the caves but thought the price was higher than others i have seen on this site. The elevators were small and the hotel itself tiny. I wouldn't go back

We will be staying at Locarno in Rome in May. A friend who travels to Rome alot recommended it and the website looked good. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has been there.

Hi Marcy,
I live and work in Rome as a tour guide and the Hotel Teatro di Pompeo is right near my office. I have had many clients who have stayed there and all really liked it. It is a little more than some in the area but it is a 3 star.
however if you would like some other recommendations please feel free to email me direct to [email protected] and I can send you some.
The area Teatro di Pompeo is situated in is a really good choice as it is right by Campo di Fiori which is one of the more local piazzas. Here you will find good restaurants, great wine bars, the best gelato at Blue Ice and a wonderful market during the day selling fish, fruit and vegetables, spices and flowers. You are also right across the road from the bustling Piazza Navona with its buskers and street artists. A short bus ride will take you to the Vatican and the Colosseum and forums. You can also walk to the Trevi and the Pantheon easily from here.
Let me know if you need anything else (or anyone else) as I'm more than happy to help out.
Regards
Marianna

We stayed at the Santa Chiara our last trip to Rome. I didn't care for the breakfast and the hotel lacked a certain "charm." HOWEVER, the location is impeccable. If reasonably priced cleanliness and location are your biggest concerns, then Santa Chiara is an excellent choice. If you want great service and charming rooms, then you may want to try elsewhere.
