best place for a day trip from florence?

I was wondering what the best place would be for a day trip from florence? My boyfriend and I will be staying in Florence at the end of March (25-29)...we'll be in Rome up until then. Thanks!

Siena. Although some may opt for Pisa or Lucca.

Lucca..it doesn't get as much attention as other places in Tuscany, but we loved it.

The walkway on the top of the wall around the city is beautiful...like a park; not something you see in other places.

San Gimiano is a great day trip...not too big and if you get going in good time you can probably do another town as well.

Lucca by train or Siena by bus, both fantastic.

A second for Lucca by train or Siena by bus.

You can also do Orvieto or Bologna.

Make sure to go up to Fiesole, just outside the city, to watch the sun set. No. 7 bus from the train station.
