Best phone cards to ring Australia?
Hi there,
we will need to ring home from the following places: London, Amsterdam, Paris, Ireland, Greece and Rome.
What cards give the best rate and amount of time to Australia?
Thanks in advance
Donna

Hi Lordy
You will need to get different cards for the different countries. I find the best place to buy them is at the local stores.
One thing to keep in mind that some charge a connection fee which has a cheaper per minute charge so may be better if you are calling once in awhile for a long time, whereas others have a free connection with slightly higher per minute costs (but far far cheaper than the Telstra calling card) which are better if you are making lots of calls.
Just think that it works just the same as in Australia - could you name the cheapest calling card? I couldn't and they change regularly.
Just stay away from the ones issued by the main carrier.
If, you have a mobile, have you thought about bringing your mobile and texting home? An Australian mobile works in Europe.

Hi Donna
If I'm spending any length of time in a country, I buy a prepaid sim card but they are really only of value if calling from the country of purchase. If you search on this site there is a lot of posts about global sim cards. I've never used them.
