Best path to Burg Eltz?
Hoping someone can inform me about the various walking paths to Burg Eltz. I was there 35 years ago and I'm sure some things have changed. I remember driving to a parking lot not far off the road that follows the Mosel. The walking path that began there followed the stream and took us maybe 45 minutes. It was not a strenuous walk at all and very pleasant because of the forest, the stream, and the sudden view of the castle. I know there are probably four or more ways to get there, but this is the one I think I would prefer. I know this castle is hugely popular with tourists, and so would also appreciate any tips about best times, etc. Thanks a million!

Burg Eltz
I just finished looking this up, as I too, will be returning there in May after a 15 year absence!
www.burg-eltz.de. click on the English flag for translation. They detail various walking approaches, but I believe that all paths from the car park are DOWNHILL.
I believe the uphill moderate hike along the stream which you describe is not from the car park, but rather from the train station in Moselkern, specifically, starting from the Ringelsteiner Muehle.
It is through shaded woods with the stream down below and to the right.

Yes for tourists seeking easiest path - all of course are uphill then downhill - not starkly steep but steadily so - yeah about 45-min walk up -s right from behind Moselkern train station with frequent trains to Cochem and upriver and downriver to Koblenz.

You park your car at Landhotel Ringelsteiner Mühle located at 50.201220, 7.354667 little uphill from Moselkern. There are parking meters at the hotel parking lot just for that purpose. From there you climb upstream to the Burg Eltz. The path would be tough to hike when the ground is muddy. There are many places where you rely on friction to stay on the dirt path.
There is also an alternate steeper way from Müden.
