I was thinking more of a driver to get you there; then maybe one or two days driven sightseeing. Also worth asking Craigendarroch if they have any ideas.

"<i>. . . then maybe one or two days driven sightseeing.</i>"

But w/o a driver they'd sort of stuck in Ballater, which while a nice place its not really worth more than a morning or afternoon walk around. That's why they'd probably want a driver for several days.

Probably no issue since Melanie decided to pick up a car at ABZ.

Yes, we did reserve a car from the Aberdeen airport and will be keeping it all week dropping it off in Edinburgh. 30 days now and we will be on our way! Again, thanks for all the helpful input!

OK. Let me know if I can help at all. This is, pretty much, my home patch

Hi MZ,

Have you considered staying the night in Aberdeen?

ira, it was suggested, but we are not willing to give up an already booked and paid for night at the resort in Ballater. In hindsight, that would have been a great idea. I've watched a few videos regarding roundabouts and general driving in the U.K. and I think I can manage. From directions on mapquest, there are only 2 roundabouts I may encounter after leaving the airport. Plus, we get there on a Sunday and I'm hoping the traffic will be light. Fingers crossed!
sheila, thank you! Coming to Scotland is a dream come true! I may not come back to the states

Hello, All,

I realize this thread is from 2012 but it directly relates to my question. We will be flying into Aberdeen and then staying at the Hilton Craigendarroch. I'm inclined to take the bus (so much less stress) from Aberdeen then hire a driver for day trips out of Ballater. My question is how we get from the bus stop to Craigendarroch with luggage. Does anyone know?

Becky

Also, for anyone who has stayed at the Hilton Craigendarroch, what are the laundry facilities like?

welcome to Fodors beckyrhea. It would be better to start a new topic of your own instead of piggy backing on to an old one like this. Yes -- I've stayed at the Craigendarroch a couple of times. Terrific place but one would really want to have a car while staying there. Is there a reason you can't/won't rent a car?

I'll wait to comment further until your new thread is posted . . .
