Back from Portugal, thank you all for info. Stayed in Lisbon for 4 days after 10-day tour and visited Gulbakien (amazing), Tile Museum, Feira do Ladras, Castelo Sao Jorge, Alfama (via tram #28), Bairro Alto (via funiculur), and Sintra (via metro, train, circle bus), not to mention walking around Praca Comercio and Rossio areas. Ate at BomJardin (yum) and a couple other recommended places, all of which were delicious. These posts are so very helpful. Again, thank you all.
Never made it to Marvao, but loved Castelo de Vide, Obidos, and Guimares, among the many wonderful places visited.
The soups, all over the country, including the "rest stops" along the highways, were divine, as were the pastries. . . and the wines.
