Best Map to use for driving in Tuscany

We will be leaving for Italy on June 26th. Part of the trip will encompass Tuscany. Please suggest the best map for Tuscany. I remember someone posting a specific map in a previous post but am unable to recall or find it via search. I have read that TCI and Michelin are good. My husband (who will be driving) likes a fold out map as opposed to using an Atlas type with different sections. Your opinions please.

You may answered your own question with the Michelin map but we use a Hammond Italy atlas and usually print maps from Google. If you haven't been driving there before, the directional signage is very good.

You have 2 good options. The TCI Toscana map is quite detailed but a bit hard to handle. I use the Michelin # 563 which is 400K to 1 scale but adequate for for most needs. It includes as far south as Rome and north to Bologna and includes all of Umbria.

Bob - the #563 is exactly what I was looking for. Got that information from Fodor's in the past, purchased the map, used it, and then "lent" it to a friend never to be seen again. Thank you.

His - like you said, the directional signage is good. We like to have a map with us -- gives us an overall view.

Happy Memorial Day and thank you both for the feedback. 30 days and counting.

I live in central Italy. We have a number of regional TCI maps, and I have the Michelin map for central Italy; it covers Le Marche, Umbria, Lazio, and Tuscany (and maybe Abruzzo). I would tell you which number it is, but it's down in my car. I really prefer the Michelin map to the TCI maps, as I find it easier to read.

For Tuscany, it doesn't much matter, because I don't love any of the famous choices. I'm a graphics professional and I think they all suck. Just have a current map and you'll do fine. Chance are you won't use it very often. I think signage in Tuscany is AMAZING.
