We plan to drive around Tuscany.
What is the best map to get in Italy (or here in the states) and where do you get it at?

The Michelin map of central Italy is good. You can purchase them at a large bookstore. Also we found the hotels had good maps of their specific areas.
A hint or two for driving in Tuscany.
They do not mark Hwy numbers on the signs so be sure to know the names of some larger towns further along the route you are taking. They will sign the larger cities first and the smaller ones further down. Make sure your navigator is alert becaues you can miss a sign in a flash. Driving is easy. Just remember that you can stay in a roundabout for as many circles as it takes to find your sign and don't be upset when you take a few wrong turns. That is part of the adventure of driving in Tuscany! Have fun.

Agree with Kate. Make sure you get the spiral bound map at least at 1:3000,000 scale.

You can also get the Italian Touring Company (green and gold colored)maps of sections of Italy, including one on tuscano, at Barnes and Noble. Enjoy.

A map at 1:300,000 would be much more useful than one at 1:3,000,000. I'm sure that jabez meant the former.

The Michelin map of Centro Italy is fine for planning, but you want the TCI map of Tuscany at 200K to 1 for detail on driving day trips. They are available and cheaper in Italy.
