Best hotel/b&b in Dublin for a proper Irish farewell?

Three of us (in our 60's, but young-at-heart) will be wrapping up a 3 week trip to Ireland next July, and are looking for accommodation in Dublin for our last couple of days where we can experience the "quintessential" Ireland.

We would like a central location, and don't want to break the bank (200 Euros maximum/room per night).

After much research, I have come up with the following possibilities, and would appreciate any input on these, along with other suggestions.

Ariel House
Buswells Hotel
Number 31

Thank you so much!

We stayed at the Ariel House. They have fabulous breakfasts and very nice staff.

We walked into town some days but it is a bit of a walk (about 30 minutes to Trinity College, for example). However, there is a Dart station down the street where you can easily take trains into town or out of town (we took a train down the coast to Bray and then connected via bus to Enniskerry and Powerscourt). Down the street in the other direction you will also find a number of bus stops.

Let me make it harder... I would go for no 31 - have wanted to visit it for years and know people who rave about it...

But in making your decision, I would bear in mind:

- Buswells is the winner if you want a handy location. It is bang in the centre of town whereas the other 2 are a bit of a walk.

- Buswells is a hotel (albeit a quintessential Dublin hotel) so if you want a homely, guesthouse feel I would pick one of the others.

- The others (Ariel and no.31) are both about the same distance from town, so no real difference there. The real difference is character - Ariel is more your traditional 200 year old Georgian townhouse, whereas no.31 is a Georgian townhouse with a twist and is the brainchild contemporary architect Sam Stephenson. So if you want traditional, go for Ariel and if you want something with a twist go for no 31.

If you haven't already done so, have a look at the images of rooms on the web for both and you will get a feel for the difference - I suspect one will appeal more than the other as they are quite different styles, and just go for the one that attracts you more.

Go for Number 31. I stayed there in June 2013 and loved it. It's a charming property with great hosts, fantastic breakfast each morning and we had a very comfortable room with good sized bathroom.

We did not find the walk into the centre of the city at all taxing and there were a couple of really good restaurants for dinner within a five minute walk. (recommended by the hotel staff and they weren't wrong)
