My travel agent is steering us to La Rambla area, but I see no one here is staying in that area. Is there a reason why we might want to stay in this area? We are first time visitors and will only be in Barcelona for 4 days. We would like to be near sightseeing and the HOHO bus. We do not know anything about Barcelona and have only begun to look into this trip. Anyone heard of Cuatro Naciones or Hotel de Mar?
Thanks

First of all you would be better off posting a new question since this post is old and may not get much response.
Las Ramblas area is very touristy and crowded so it is not mine or too many others favorite area to stay in. PL Catalunya is at the top of the Ramblas and would fine but I wouldn't stay anywhere lower on the Ramblas, take a look at a map and try to stay around this area, you will be very central and safe.
I don't know your hotels or price range but I just stayed at Hotel Jazz in this area and couldn't have been happier.

I'm planning a Barcelona itinerary and sightseeing is spread out all over the city so you can't be near all of the sightseeing. There are buses, metro, taxis so you can get to wherever you want to be. With only 4 days I would not want to be anywhere near the HOHO bus. Spend your time at the sights or walking. I see people crawling along in these buses in NYC and they look bored to death.
