Best (ANY) Way from Prague to Venice?
I have searched here, tripadvisor, and rail and air sites; I've thought about day-tripping to Vienna and on to Venice from there; still there doesn't seem to be a way other than going to Paris or Rome, which seems odd. Any help will be appreciated. We'll be going in April (in June SmartWings will be flying the route).

4hrs by train with no changes. EC trains leave every 4 hours or so throughout the day. 10:30 am departure will get you to Vienna at 2:30pm.
Check www.bahn.de for schedules.
Austrian airlines flies Vienna to Venice.

Am I understanding this correctly?
You want to day trip to both Vienna and Venice from Prague on the same day?
If so, it's an insane idea that I urge you to forget immediately.
If you want to get from Prague to Vienna, then on a later date from Vienna to Venice, you have been given answers.

Thank you both. no, I may be blonde but I don't want to day trip to both
. We plan to stay 4 days in Prague and 3 in Venice, maybe if necessary, 1 overnight between. What we had hoped was that we could train throught the Alps for the view. I'm getting the feeling there is no hope for this.

There is a train that you can take from Vienna, change at Kufstein, which, as far as I can see, takes you through the Brenner Pass into Venice. Total time: 11 hours and a bit. (I put in an April date.)

I am doing the opposite of what you are doing (Venice - Prague) in June, so luckily I get the direct flight on smartwings. However, you can also by flight to Venice from Prague. You would fly Prague to Amsterdam on smartwings (about $30EU/person) and from Amsterdam to Venice on Transavia. Try these links: www.smartwings.net/en and www.transavia.nl. This will cut out the 14 hour train ride (which I too was desperate to avoid).
