I am planning a trip to backpack around Europe for 2 months. However, I do not want to be rushed to see every country there is. What are the BEST countries to visit??

Italy - Florence, Venice, Rome, Perugia, Verona;
Paris region of France; London & southern UK - Oxford, Bath; Greece - can get there on Eurailpass - Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Ios; and the Netherlands - small & easy to get around.

I've done it before, and I highly recommend Italy, Spain, France and the Greek Islands. Also, if you have time leftover try to get to Prague and/or Budapest...have a great trip!!

Keri: Good question! In MY opinion: Italy, Spain, Bavarian Region of Germany, Prague, and Greece.

Here's a winner, but it depends upon what you mean by "best".

1.Germany...the romantic road form Rothenburg to Munich

2. Austria...Salzsburg(a must) and Vienna

3. Czech Republic...Prague, beautiful and inexpensive!

4. Hungary...Budapest

5. Italy, particualrly the Tuscany area, Florence, Sienna, Orvietto Beautiful and great food...and an overdose of culture in Florence

I would visit France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland. France and Italy for the culture, art, and food. Spain for the sun and festivals (and more good art). Germany for the festivals (local ones) and the history. And Switzerland for the most spectacular outdoor scenery in Europe. Apart from these countries, Prague is definitely a must.

Germany, anywhere south of Frankfurt... Bavaria is the best. Switzerland for scenic beauty...Jungfrau region. Austria for the Tyrol mtns. Southern France around Monaco and anywhere in Italy. If time permits, last would be Greece.
