Berlin Journal: Hitler Back On Show at Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds recently opened a wax museum in Berlin two months ago and on opening day a protestor beheaded Hitler's wax likeness

but now the Fuhrer's wax figure has been repaired and back on show - now behind glass windows and a concrete wall and two guards always standing by.

Do you agree with the protestor or with Madame Tussauds?

Remember that figures like Jack the Ripper made Tussauds London wax emporium so popular.

Just imagine what would happen if yours or my image were in there...it would take an ARMY of "guards" to keep not just our wax heads from being severed!!!

I don't know what the fuss is all about. Even if we thought Hitler was more evil than the devil himself, the devil has many statues around thew world. So why not his human cousin?

I've never seen the point of waxworks: I rather think anyone who chooses to pay money to visit one rather devalues any claim to taste in judging what they might find there.

Taste/Waxworks.

I was in Amsterdam over the weekend, and the waxwork on display at the front of Madam Tussauds was Benny Hill.

QED.

The Official Madame Tussauds Berlin site has pix on its home page of the Beatles and Einstein and the Blue Man Group but not a mention of the Furher!

the museum appears to be on the Unter den Linden - the showpiece street of old East Berlin just down from the Branden'g Gate
