Berchtesgaden or Garmisch-Partenkirchen?

We'll be spending 15 days in Germany this summer, traveling by train. We have plans for both Salzburg and Fussen (see the castles and Romantic Road bus tour). We have an extra day (and night)to spend and I'd like to go to either Berchtesgaden or Garmisch. Which would you do: take the train(or bus?) from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden or Fussen to Garmisch?
Thank you in advance!

The Eagles Nest outside Berch. is interesting and beautiful views and the town itself is fine. Nice lake nearby too. Garmisch. is fine too, not much to do in either one really. But you can take a little train outside Garmisch. to the little lakes nearby or up ski lifts for views.

Both are very nice towns. You can take a bus from Garmisch to the town of Oberammergau which is a nice visit.

A few years ago I was looking for an ATM in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and, my German being very limited, went into a place called Die Spielbank. I had a good laugh when I realized instead of finding an ATM I had found the casino.
