Dukey1 -- "that hubby" leaves all the planning to me. And it's not really a problem at this point. Just looking for suggestions/opinions. Whatever we decide, it'll be great.
As I've thought on this for a couple of days, we may just wait until late in the day before leaving Bellagio and stay near the airport the final night. Someone mentioned First Hotel and they have a great rate for the night we need.
Another reason for seeking all this input, is my adult daughter will be traveling with us, but has to leave several days earlier. Not too crazy about her navigating the ferry/train/shuttle on her own for an early international flight also. May just bite the bullet and rent a private car for her so I KNOW she'll arrive on time for her flight.

Sounds like a snotty brat comment if you ask me. Good grief, the hypocrites on this board.
I'm perfectly happy with the advice I gave the OP. I even endorsed the merit of staying near MXP if budget is the highest priority.
Not sure what your problem is, socaltraveler. I absolutely fail to see why I'm a snotty brat because I think your idea is dull and boring, which is the exact opposite of the thrill that Lake Como provides. If newly re-opened restaurants with new owners, near MXP, who serve you across the street from a parking lot, give you pleasure, then so be it.

Oh please, Lake Como is not such a thrill if you are worried about getting to the airport on time, or spending a fortune on private transportation. But I am not calling you or your idea either dull or boring, so just drop the condescending attitude. The hotel was convenient, the restaurant was pretty damn good, and judging from the locals pouring in as we were leaving for an early bedtime, it was not just popular with tourists. There are many ways to travel, and you NYC have the reputation for snotty comments, not I. Over with this one. OP, do consider all your options, including a hotel near MXP the night before. That was all I meant to say before getting sidetracked. I apologize.

Kids, stop your fussin'.
We have decided to stay near MXP the evening before (First Hotel). We'll "milk" Bellagio for all its worth that last day, and enjoy a nice train ride into Milan.
Thanks everyone for your input - it is really appreciated.

dear OP, you will not regret your decision, enjoy Bellagio and the First Hotel. We have stayed there a few times and found it very comfortable, and slept well knowing their shuttle would get us to our flight with little effort in the morning. And my apology was for you, hijacking your thread. Since Food Snob thinks I have a snotty, brag attitude, she errs in thinking I was talking to her anyway. I merely consider the source.

socaltraveler, please take your Lounge behavior back to the Lounge. You come on this thread accusing me of behaving like a snotty, condescending brat yet it's your words that exhibit that behavior. And of course you're blind to it. I did not "err," sweetie. The joke was on you.

On another forum, someone mentioned that Malpensa airport is having quite a bit of construction and it took them quite a bit of time to get from the shuttle to their gate, so it's good that we're staying close the final night.

If you're flying a U.S. carrier, the check-in counters have been moved, and construction may continue through the summer. I was told these changes have everything to do with U.S. entry security requirements.
At MXP, the U.S. carrier counters are in the far western corner of Terminal 1 (Check-in counter 32, I think. The very last one.). This is exactly opposite where the Malpensa Shuttle drops you off. Be prepared: the walk is very long. The train station drops you about halfway in the middle of Terminal 1, so the walk is a little closer.
