Belgium and Germany

My boyfriend lives in Mons, Belgium and I live in Heidelberg, Germany. We are looking for great weekend getaways located halfway between our homes. Any ideas?

Maastricht might work. Two hour drive time for you and one hour and forty minutes for him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maastricht

Maastricht is a fabulous choice. Some others to consider, although not as evenly split on time -- Koeln or Trier.

Trier and the Mosel valley. Heaps to do and see, and good wine.
Ditto, but more off the beaten path: the Ahr valley.

Another vote for petite Maastricht - a romantic little city, great food, and picturesque during the winter months due to the lovely Christmas lights in the shopping streets.
