Oh, and if you want to see what I'm talking about with the search option, try this:
Search for 'Festival de l'Imaginaire' by typing that in the 'search for text' box, and also select France in the country listing. You'll see that there aren't any posts - even though you know you posted two different ones!
Now, search again but do not use the country - now you'll find both of the posts you started.

I didn't mean to duplicate the info from steviegene (not pliing on - honest) When I posted, steviegene's didn't show.
But maybe w/ ours and GoAway's info you now understand how the search function and country lists function. And yes it can be confusing since Fodors doesn't really explain how things work

Just to reinforce what Patrick said, I only ever scroll down the first 50 on the Europe forum. I never search by country unless I'm typing a search in the text box looking for something specific and then I search by country as well.
I doubt that anyone scrolls past 250 postings on a regular basis Bigal.
