Nerja is a popular and pleasant town on the coast, not too far from Malaga. It is touristy, though not as built up and overdeveloped as many of the other towns on that stretch of coast. I could happily spend a couple of days there.

If all you want is to sit on the beach for a couple of hours before your flight, there is actually a beach right near the airport, the other side of the Parador Malaga Golf. Or the beaches at Torremolinos are only about 10 minutes' drive away.

Hi,

I can highly recommend Pedregalejo. It is only 4 km from the city centre of Malaga. You are close to the city and the beach. There is not that many tourists as in Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Benalmadena.

If you go to Pedregalejo you can eat al fresco lunch anytime between 1ish and about 5pm. A real Malagueno treat. The food's great and very fresh. And a lot better than airport fare

In fact, you can be on the beach, sunbathe and swim, and sit to lunch in your swimming suit (in many of the places).
