We're planning on spending one night in Munich, and have reservations at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel, but wanted to know more about the other hotels...Do you know of these? <BR>Thanks!

We've stayed at the Torbrau -very nice and friendly. Great location. Close to U and S bahn stations, restaurants, Viktulienmarkt. Excellent breakfast buffet too.

We stayed at the Bayereischer Hof about 12 years ago, recommended by a local. It was tops in service, accomodation and location. Would return tomorrow. Enjoy.

We stayed at the Platzl and had a beautiful room, rich in German atmosphere. Also they served a super breakfast, and we loved the location. The only negative might be that we seemed to be about the only ones not part of a tour group.

I agree with the above post. We stayed at the Platzl in '98 and enjoyed it very much. Very German atmosphere as mentioned. Standard rooms are a bit small, so we upgraded and got a huge room overlooking the center courtyard. Very quiet. The location is unbeatable. We didn't notice large tour groups when we were there. Maybe there just happened to be a number of them when the poster above was there.

Hi! We stayed at the Am Markt a few years ago and really enjoyed it. They squeezed us in without reservations. The staff speak English and were pleasant. The best part of the hotel is the dining room which is furnished in antiques and just very pleasant and nice. Breakfast was included. We tried to make reservations there a couple of years ago and they were booked for the time we were looking to go. It is also an excellent location right by the viktulmarkt. There you can buy lunch, beer everything and just walking through there makes you hungry. It is conveniently located in Munich also. I would like to stay there again.

Sounds like you can't go wrong with any of your choices! I very much like the Torbrau - very friendly, helpful staff (that speaks English), good food, very comfortable air conditioned rooms, a five minute walk from Marienplatz and the Deutsches Museum, a security guard that watches the cars in the parking lot. I would love to go back there.
