I'd bet on Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There's skiing and all sorts of winter
activities along with a spirited night
life located in a nice village. The
famous King Ludwig castles are a simple
drive from there as well. Very nice
place overall.
Thanks for your reply,BO.
Do you think it is possible to use Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a base and explore nearby towns and villages? is it possible to make day trip to Munich?
What mode of transports will you suggest? we plan to drive, but is it safe to drive during winter time?
lastly, when will the skiing season starts? is it possible to ski, or at least experience some snow fight, in mid december?
thanks and regards,

mast

Good evening, Mast
My suggestion for you would be Switzerland, namely the Berneroberland.
Between the towns of Grindelwald, Murren, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and
Interlaken, The Schlithorn, Jungfrau,
the Eiger and Monch. Skying on the
Mannlichen and Grindelwald-First.
Have a tremendous variety in this
small area. see the following
urs for more information.
www.berneroberland, ch/
www.grindelwald.ch/
www.lauterbrunnen.ch/
www.murren.ch/
www.wengen.ch/
www.interlakentourism.ch/
www.swisshotels.ch/
www.hotelguide.ch/
Of all my choice would be Wengen and
its cable car up to Mannlichen and the
railway up to Kleine Scheidegg.
Good surfing, Richard of Hickory Hills.

Yes, you could make a day trip to Munich as well as Oberamergau, Neuswanstein, Linderhof and other places.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a charming village in a beautiful area.

Have fun.

well, I believe that both Switzerland and Bavaria are equally beautiful and definately worth visiting them. but owing to limited time, I could only choose one (how sad!), so, the main concern is: since we intend to drive (is it a good idea in winter?), which place has a better road condition?

Thanks again for all the help!

mast
