Bavaria in August of 2020

Hi, we have an invitation to do a home exchange in Bavaria in August of 2020, near Lake Ammensee. The village is Raisting, 50 km outside of Munich. We have not spent extensive time in Germany. My husband has been to Munich and Berlin in the 1990s. I have only flown through Frankfurt, so never. We will have 2 children with us (13 and 4) and are wondering if it's worth it to haul ourselves across the ocean for this destination. We had a fabulous exchange last summer in Paris and have done exchanges in Amsterdam. Thumbs up? What do you think?

Enough to see and do in that area. Check out King Ludwig's castles Neuschwanstein, Herrenchiemsee and Linderhof. The latter is near Oberammergau which is a very pretty and very bavarian town. There are lakes all over Bavaria. And the mountains, of course. If you don't mind a bit of driving (one and a half hour), go see the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain.
Forgot to mention that the Passion Play in Oberammergau is on in 2020 (May thru October).

Thank you all! I am excited. We are seriously considering it now. I have a scarcity of time to pour into researching this destination so this is a good start.

We were in Bavaria last August and it was lovely. It's nice to be in parts of the world that have beautiful weather while you're there. Salzburg isn't far away and is a good place to spend time. I wish we had had more time in Bavaria.
