Bathrooms in German hotels
Apologies in advance for this somewhat trivial question!

While researching hotels in south west Germany, I have noticed that most en suite rooms come with either a shower or a bath. Do baths in the smaller German hotels generally have shower attachments or just taps? I've reserved a room at the Reichs Kuchenmeister in Rothenbuirg and am torn between requesting a room with bath to be able to soak in after a long (possibly rainy!) day's sightseeing, or shower for ease of hair-washing!

Don't know about shower attachments, but if you like to soak, suggest that you opt for the tub and at worst, wash your hair in sink or under bath tap, even tho it isn't the best. You can't soak in a shower, for sure. Also, today even small hotels have faxs or emails. Find out specifics that way.

Hi Zoe,
I´ve called the hotel for you and it´s like I would have suggested. You´ve a bath and you can take a shower as well, because in "normal" German baths you´ll find a tub including shower attachments. So you can soak and as well wash and rinse your hair like you do when taking a shower.

Enjoy it

Miriam

Dear Miriam and Lola

Thank you for your replies--and thanks Miriam for calling the hotel. I have already asked them so many questions ("is the room in the main house?"; "can we get inside the walls in the car?") I felt a bit daft asking them about their bathrooms!

I have requested a room with bath rather than shower so I can soak to my heart's content and not have to perform contortion tricks to wash my hair!

Zoe,

Trust me, that question about can you drive within the walls, was not a dumb question.

I was there in June and I had the same question. In fact on the way to the pension that I was staying in I still had that question..."are you sure you can drive on this road, are you sure it is a road??!!"

We parked outside the wall & walked around to get a lay of the land. That was a very good idea in retrospect. The "roads" are very small & narrow. (Like what isn't in Germany?!"

Have a good time!

Nancy
