Bateaux Mouche Dinner Cruise

Has anyone taken this dinner cruise in Paris recently? The brochure says jacket and tie recommended, not required. Will they adhere to this? My husband was not planning on taking a coat or tie if he doesn't have to. Thanks for your help.

There are 3 different companies that do the dinner cruises. Some appear to be more informal, but the one we went on he would definitely need a jacket and tie. sorry I can't remember the name of co. that ran it, but it was really upscale, 4 waiters to every table, fine crystal and china, and super food and only about 30 people if that.

Dinner cruises have received mixed reviews. The majority say take a cruise, then go out for dinner. But other people have enjoyed them, so it's really a tossup. Here's some information on several cruises - I think it's up to date. The last one is the most highly recommended.

Bateaux Mouches
Pont de l'Alma, Right Bank, Paris 8. Joni,
I've taken the Bateaux Mouches many times, including the dinner cruise. My recommendation is to take the Bateaux Mouches since they provide a superb overview of the city from the Seine, which cuts through the center of the city. But don't bother with the dinner part, which is anything but special and overpriced to boot. Absolutely do enjoy the cruise and have a nice dinner elsewhere.

We are very much looking forward to the cruise. We've already decided to try the dinner. When you took the cruise, was a coat and tie required or is that just required for dinner? Thanks.

The coat and ties are required for the dinner cruises, not for the day cruises or for the evening cruises that are without dinner

Check http://www.bateauxparisiens.com/english/index.html. The dress rules for dinner are no "jeans and sneakers not permitted". We booked thru the web site and booked the First Class dinner. First class is in the front of the boat and we had our own table. My wife loved it and that's what I wanted.

We took the Bateaux Mouche dinner cruise in June and jacket and tie were required. But, you do not have to take them with you, as they will provide them for you. Of course, the ones they provide are anything but fashionable--one of the guys was given a seersucker jacket and plaid tie, for instance.

Bonjour,

I recommend the Bateaux Parisien Cruises. We first went with friends who took us a special suprise. I had heard that some of the cruises were a little hoaky. I was pleasently supprised. We had a wonderful 5 coarse diner, before diner Kir Royal, two bottles of wine and a wonderful desert, not to mention wonderful entertainment and company.

The price I believe is about $75.00 per person, and I think considering the food, entertainment, and the atmosephere of a night cruise on the Seine, that it is worth it. On our cruise they did opera, traditional French Music, ie Piaf, Trenet, Aznevour, and even did New York, New York at the Pont Grennelle and the little Miss Liberty.

Ciao,

Randall Smith

The one we went on was $200.00 a person, of course the champagne, wine and food were superb. we were with friends and her cousin and her French "other" who is a wine and restaurant critic . So I guess it all depends on what you are going for! believe me no one on our boat was wearing a seersucker jackets and plaid tie!
