Hi,
We are going to Barcelona first week in April and are looking for a B & B or Pension to stay in. want a safe neighborhood, not to expensive, a place with charm, where we can mingle with "the natives". Any suggestions? thanks DianeJo

I just booked an apartment for our trip in Feb. I also looked at B&Bs and Hostals in the €70 range for 2 people. If this is your budget, write to me at [email protected] and I will forward you the links.

I took a look at the Splendid, very $$ for my nights. 600EUR for 3 nights in May!
I too am looking for something similar in Barcelona for our stay in May. hoping to spend 90EUR (or less) per night for a double. Right now I have made reservations at El Jardi, which gets good reviews, but doesn't sound like good value.

DianeJo, I understand that further north near the Pl. Catalunya is ideal. The other place I am considering, which is right in that area is Hostal Goya. Gets VERY good reviews, but no TV, which we do use (even without english programs) to wind down each evening. I might book it anyway.

I was also looking for an affordable hotel in Barcelona and contacted El Jardi, but just couldn't bring myself to book it. Instead I found Hotel Hesperia Del Port, and booked it on Venere, for good rates. It has great tripadvisor reviews, but we haven't stayed here yet.

DianeJo,
Although it doesn't serve breakfast you might want consider the Hostal Girona.
My trip report is a little out of date now, but here's a link if you want to take a look;

There's a link to the Girona's website in the report.
