We got to Sagrada Familia. In case you've been living on another planet, Gaudi's masterpiece is unfinished and work likely to continue till at least the 2020s.>

Ironic just the other night characters on Coronation Street were talking about Barcelona and one ole bag said 'that's the place with the ugly cathedral'. About all she knew about Barcelona.

You did not mention anything about rampant crime that worries many - I skimmed thru it all - very - awesomely well written - but did not notice if you mentioned the topic of street crime and if you saw anything, etc. Most do not of course but many do, unfortunately.

I did mention crime in my second post. I nearly got pickpocketed on the first morning. Tommy intervened to get my money back.

He is either too much of a gentlemen to mention it, or embarrassed at what a twat I was - not quite sure which, probably the latter.

Anyway, I never take all my cards and money out as a precaution against this so it wouldn't have been the end of the world. We had no other incidents all week, and saw nothing else remotely suspicious.

I loved Barcelona and would not let it stop me from going again.

I think that knowing there is a crime problem in Barcelona means that you will be less likely to be victimized and yes do not be deterred from visiting one of my favorite cities in Europe as well - just be aware of anyone coming up to you.

anyway thanks for an extremely well written report that anyone going to Barcelona could benefit from reading - a veritable guide book!
