barcelona itinerary..is this ok?
hi, as kja said in my other post, im reposting this so that barcelona is in the title... i just copied my old post:
hello, its me again asking for you help... in case any of you didnt read my other post: two friends and i (in our early twenties) are going to europe in february. we are from argentina, we dont know how long will it take us to save the money again so we are on a tight schedule...
now, what i wanted to ask you is if you think this itinerary for barcelona is ok or if its too much or if theres places that take less time and we can see something else...
before i begin let me tell you we calculated time based on a few walking tours in guidebooks plus the time we would take inside some of these places.
here it goes
DIA 1
we will be arriving at 9 to the airport so i guess we wont be doing anything until after lunch because of the check in and all that.
afternoon: ramblas up to the point where you can detour to barri gotic. spend the afternoon there. (the walking tour we follow has many things, palau episcopal, plaza neri, palau de la generalitat, etc) we will be going in (so you get an idea about time): museo de historia de la ciudad, catedral de barcelona. Is there anything else you can get in?
maybe after that head back to las ramblas to have dinner and walk a little more.
DIA 2
morning: eixample. start with sagrada familia, then head to the gaudi area (casa batllo, cara mila, etc). we will be going in on those two, sagrada familia.
then head to las ramblas, have lunch, finish that, and walk to la ribera. there we will get in la merce, parc de la ciutadella, santa maria del mar, museo picasso. maybe dinner in that area
dia 3
start early and go to park guell. spend the morning there and have a picnic there. after lunch head for montjuic. get inside miro foundation, and poble espanyol.
i dont know how much this will take, but our train leaves for paris that night (21:00) so we have to go back to our hostel, get our bags and go to the train station...
we are missing two things we wanted to include but we dont think theres time: laberinto de la horta and monestir pedralbes. ive seen in the map the last one is really far away. do you think that theres a little hole to include at least the laberinth?? if not, we will just leave it out...
any comments will be helpfull, sorry i wrote such a long post. as i said before, we need to take advantage of time as much as possible.
thank you!
PS. sorry for my english, im not so sure all of these sentences are correct...
i forgot to add that we are going on february. so even though i thought about lines, i asumed that because its winter they wont be long...am i wrong?

I notice that a couple of times you are planning to go to Las Ramblas to eat. I would suggest that there are not so many appealing restaurants along that street; in fact, I wasn't all that taken with Las Ramblas at all. The Boqueria Market is there, and that is colorful and has some lunch counters where you can eat that are fun. Having done that once, however, I didn't feel any draw to return to the Ramblas during my stay.

I have been 4 times in Barcelona, last time this apst November. I am still puzzled what is the "draw" of Las Ramblas. IMHO is not more that a long street, with a sea of humanity and a bunch of tacky stalls. The only reason I would go back there is to cut across and enter La Boquería market, which is fantastic.

I wouldn't eat on Las Ramblas, but I still thought it was entertaining to walk down it, at least once.
The street performers aren't something you see everywhere. (Of course there are street performers elsewhere, but I've never seen any that are quite the same as on Las Ramblas.) And La Boqueria is definitely worth visiting.

the only nice part of Ramblas is NORTH of Catalunya .

I actually think Las Ramblas is very pretty for a stroll, although I agree with the other posters, that you dont want lunch there.
dia 1- after your sightseeing, I would cut over to the Port Vell marina and try the best tapas bar for dinner, young crowd, good value, but be prepared to wait a little for a table:
Jai-Ca on c/Ginebre (barceloneta)
dia 2- Sagrada Familia, then straight up to Güell park (better to see the two views on different days)
walk down through gracia, get lunch on placa del sol or placa rius i taulet, then see the other gaudi buildings walking down passeig de gracia.
then into El Borne and cover that area. Again if you dont mind a bit of chaos, the xampaneria on c/isabel is famous for cava, meat tapas and sandwiches, (you can eat and drink for about 5 euro).
dia 3, plaza espanya, head up to poble espanyol miro foundation or take the fuencarril from parral.lel. you should check out the war museum in the fortress, it also has the better city view at around sunset (6pm more or less).
