Barcelona hotels/Travelocity

Has anyone stayed at either the Hotel Suizo (Plaza del Angel 12) or Hotel Rialto (Fernando 42)in Barcelona? The listing on Travelocity says that they are both around the corner from Las Ramblas in the Gothic Quarter. Is this general area in Barcelona safe to stay in? Also, I've never booked anything through Travelocity before-has anyone booked with Travelocity before? Thanks for your help!

Haven't stayed at either BUT my friend is a travel agent and frequent visitor to Barcelona. She stays at the Rialto and books many of her customers there and at the Suizao ( I believe they are run by the same people). No complaints so far. Both have good locations as you are centrally located.( The Rialto is popular with tour groups).

I couldn't get into the Rialto, so I stayed at the GRAN VIA and enjoyed it.
Good location, faded charm in the lobby, quiet, clean, smaller room. Under 100$ (US)

I'm thinking of booking hotels through Travelocity, too. I believe Travelocity is an American Airlines operation, which one would hope makes them trustworthy.
you can obtain "bonos de hotel"and can stay in a 3 or 4 start hotel at 50% discounts. these are coupons you can get in travel agencies (if you don;t go in groups)try: www.bancotel.es
and for info.: www.tourspain.es
it seems "el rialto" if good. Las Ramblas is a boulevard very centric and popular. normally the centers of the cities are not bad areas, but still you have to watch(be careful) everywhere in europe.

The Gothic Quarter is very safe and the best area in which to stay.
