Based on everyone's input, I made a reservation at Murmuri; however, this morning Hotel Neri got back to me: they do have a room, but significantly more expensive than the Murmuri. My inclination is that it's not worth so much more. Thoughts/opinions? thanks

I prefer Murmuri location regardless of the cost.

re : Hotel Murmuri, I just noticed that Google street view shows more than the hotel's "street view" but also its inside, rooms and terraces.

Sorry, the link only shows a general map of Barcelona. If you google map search with " hotel Murmuri Barcelona ", you will already see a small street view image of a room terrace.

The Wilson hotel, on the Avenida Diagonal, next the metro station Diagonal, is great. Nice staff, really helpful.

I prefer the location of the Murmuri to that of Neri. I recommend booking a room facing the street on an upper floor with a juliet terrace. Though these rooms face the street the windows are double glazed and our room was very quiet when the windows were closed.

Please forgive me for asking this question:
Why is Hotel Murmuri deemed in a very good location?
Isn't it too far north?
Wouldn't choosing a location closer to Plaza de Catalunya be more convenient?
Thanks in advance.

I found the area near the plaza to be very congested, touristy (in May)and just plain frantic. Though it may be a more central location, the city is quite walkable. In fact, the Murmuri is close to many of the Gaudi sights and no more than a 10-minute walk to placa Catalunya. It's on a quieter street with a lovely tree-lined promenade down the middle.

You probably don't want another option to add to the above but we found the Hotel Constanza to be well priced in a good location. http://www.hotelconstanza.com/hotel.html

Thank you all for your helpful input and suggestions. We stayed at the Hotel Murmuri on Rambla de Catalunya. We had a room with a small terrace facing the street. The hotel was comfortable, clean and quiet and the staff helpful. We found this location to be terrific for all that we wanted to see and do. We were able to walk most everywhere. I highly recommend it. Thank you again, Fodorites.
