barcelona - another hostal question - sorry
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a hostal under 50euros a night for a single. Doesn't have to have ensuite though it would be nice. I would like somewhere reasonally close to the cathedral, etc, and if poss with a nice big window!
Thanks.

I researched several hostals before I went to Barcelona a few weeks ago. One that is near the cathedral in your price range with ac is www.hostalopera.com. There are reviews on this website if you use the search function you will locate them.
Others that get good reviews but might not be as close are www.hostalgirona.com and www.hostalpalacios.com
For a more complete list of hostals (not hostels - there is a difference)try www.madridman.com. Click on Barcelona - hostals and scroll down to the bottom of the page and they are listed be area.
Another list of hostals is available on www.eurocheapo.com

Hi,
Thanks to both of you - but, been there done that! Was hoping someone had a personal story to tell. Especially as I had such a wonderful recommendation some time ago for a hostal in Toledo - and yes, I do appreciate there is a difference between "hostal" and "hostel".
Stayed in a great hostel in Cordoba, and elsewhere, etc. etc, but those in Barcelona seem to have too much of a party vibe for me.
Anyone else?
