Barcelona
My sister and I are planning a 3 month trip to Spain. We are looking for a flat to rent in Barcelona to use as our headquarters. We plan to leave home around the 30th of January and return on the 30th of April. We have explored several sites for accomodations including housesitting, subletting or even boat sitting for that time frame. We are open and flexible.Any ideas? We choose to frequent the local fare rather than the Holiday Inns of the world! Thanks for any help or suggestions.

We have not found a place yet. We have not planned on renting a car.Thought we would use public transportaton and just good walking to get around town.We have pooled our money to make the trip. We don't want to spend more than $1000 US per month.Yes, we would rent a place for the entire 3 months. Do you think we will find something in the price range that is clean, safe and centrally located? We are in our mid 50's so party animals we are not. Thank you for any suggestions or ideas.

if you decide to split up your time, you could have a beachfront apt. in the valencia area for about 900-1000 euros a monthplus utilities.. and a down payment.
further south probably much cheaper.
most other places are much more epxensive if they rent by the month or week. but the beach off season is not bad. but it still over your budget.
i would try to go to a small town.. and unless you are just wanting to see the barcleona area.. i would branch out more and get more for your money elsewhere.

have a look on loquo.com. with your budget, you could probably get 2 rooms in an apartment, sharing with others.
Do beware of the rent a whole apartment section, those who are advertising whole apartments cheaply, this section is riddled with scams recently.
