Balsamic Vinegar
We will be in the Emilia Romagna area soon. Has anyone visited a good place to taste homemade balsamic? Picturesque and in the country would be a plus.
thanks,

Here's a link to the page listing the producers in the Consorzio Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale:

Most of them have Web sites and some are in small towns. If you click through to the Web sites, you might find some that accept visitors.
Or you can simply go to

who will organize a tour for you if you contact them through their e-mail address.

thanks for the information... we will look at these. we actually were in the Emilia Romagna area, including Modena, last summer. We expected to see little signs directing us to places in the country where they make local cheese, balsamic, etc. Wrong!! (we live in sonoma county where there are many local products you can see made through "farm trails." anyway, we want to be prepared this time, and have something lined up.
