Balloon ride early AM
We have plans to stay in Montelpuciano for 2 nights, however, we have a hot air balloon ride in Montisi early one morning. I don't know anything about this small town, and wondered if we should stay there, or drive the 45 minutes in the morning and stay in Montelpuciano as planned.
Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I did that balloon ride with Robert a couple of years ago and it is well worth the price of admission. However, whether one gets to balloon depends on the weather. You might spend the night in Montisi and then not be able to balloon.
With only two nights in Montepulciano I would suggest that you stay there and drive to Montisi in the morning. Montisi is a nice little town but Montepulciano has much more to offer. Be sure you have good directions to Robert's house.
Have fun!

I had this same balloon trip planned last Oct. We were staying in Montelpuciano. We drove to Montisi, easy and very nice drive, the day before just to make sure we knew where it was as we had to be there very early the next morning. Also it had been quite foggy every morning. When we got there and met John, he advised that the trip was going to be cancelled because the weather report called for more fog the next morning. We were VERY disappointed. It was very foggy the next morning, but on our last day in Montelpuciano, the sun came out and it was a glorious beautiful morning. All the more reason to return and try it again. As I remember, it was probably a 45 min drive to get there.

I can't answer your question about staying overnight, but I can tell you that you are in for a great visual treat. Early morning in Tuscany is almost beyond desciption....and I can just imagine the magnificent views from on high.

We would like to stay in Montepulciano, however, I am really having difficulty finding accomodations there. No problem in Montisi, so I might not have a choice.
Any new suggestions for places in Montepulciano would be appreciated.
Thanks y'all
