How does a person handle luggage when using the tube from Heathrow into London. We will have 2 bags and two carry on bags. How safe is the trip?

There are no luggage racks if that's what you're looking or hoping for but the carriages were constructed in such a way that there's room right near the doors sort of a gap between the door and the seats. As you will be getting on at Heathrow, you can sort of choose your carriage and should be able to find room...I sit right next to the baggage....the train will tend to crowd up a bit as you head into Central London...where is your ultimate destination?

Going to exit at Kings Cross.

Yup you'll go all through central London and the carriage might become a tad crowded...just sit next to the bag by the door and you'll be fine.

The trip should be perfectly safe, it will most likely be quite busy with travellers from the airport, then it will slowly fill up with commuters. Everyone uses the tube in London, office workers, mothers with prams, people going to weddings, tourists, etc. It's not like some countries where public transport is only used by the poor or young. There won't be anyone to help you with luggage so make sure you can lift it on the train yourself, there is usually a gap between the train and the platform (hence, Mind the Gap).

It's probably easiest if you can pile it next to the door - but not in front of the door - and sit in the seat next to it, keeping a hand on it so it doesn't fall over and hit someone. Keep an eye on the map above the seats and get ready to get off at the station before Kings Cross. The train doesn't usually stop for long and it will most likely be crowded. You will be fine, we've travelled with luggage on the tube many times, just try and stay out of people's way as much as you can. People rushing to and from work don't have much patience.
