Bad Dream?
Have you ever had a travel related bad dream?
Last night I dreamt that I had misplaced my camera (always carefully carried around my neck), and that I forgot where the car was parked, and it seemed I was searching in some city roundabout. And also that I fell asleep in someone else's hotel room and then raced frantically across a hotel lobby for a 5 p.m. trip departure (or was it to catch a flight?)
Strange, as I am not planning any trip nor anxious about anything that I know of. I woke up quite relieved that I had not lost my precious camera nor the car!

I have bad travel dreams from time to time, but I have them quite frequently when a trip is upcoming. One time I dreamt that I was in Scotland with my mom, grandparents, and DH. We were all wandering around Scotland with no money, no credit cards, and no passports. (don't ask me how we got into the country w/o passports) Anyway, I was frantically calling a friend at home, telling her to go into my house, get our passports and find a way to send them to us ASAP, regardless of cost. I was also trying to find a way to get money sent to us. I was so frantic that when the alarm went off I wanted to continue my dream to make sure everything turned out OK. :-s

Isnt 'travel anxiety' awful!
I had a dream that I was trying to get to the airport but I kept going the wrong way. Time was going on and I seemed to be further and further away. Also I was wearing my nightgown and big furry slippers! Freud would have a field day with us!
I bet its because I've always had a fear of missing the plane (been watching too many episodes of 'airline' probably!)as a result I always get to the airport hours before I need to.
Good thread Ozarksbill.

LOL, Countrymouse!! Were you wearing your Freudian slippers??
I think you are right about such dreams being based on fear of missing the plane. Or in the case of my dream above, I think it's my fear of being unprepared for the trip.

It always happens to me when I'm already ON vacation...usually the first or second night. I have this dream where I can't get to the location (that I've actually already arrived at)...because of lost reservations, airline problems...and I dream of these problems when I'm already there. It's really strange.

When I am on an European vacation I dream that I am home. I am usually dealing with some domestic problem such as a missorting laundry, how exotic, lol.
When I am about to wake up I incorporate the foreign sounds to home. One time I was dreaming of the neighbor mowing his lawn as I heard the sound of a vespa reverberating down the road. I was thinking in my dream I should get up and tell so and so it is too early to mow the lawn! Then when I wake up I am all disoriented, hey, no lawn, no mower, where am I?
Happens alot.....

There is no such thing as nightmares or bad dreams. All dreams are teaching tools and may relate to something totally different than what you think it is. Searching in the roundabout can mean there is a problem you are having, searching for the answer, and you aren't focusing, hence the roundabout. A camera is a way of viewing and you displaced it. The camera is your perception of life and you control what goes in your photo album. An airplane is spiritual awareness and if you are flying it, that's great. If you are trying to catch it..well, not so great. The car is you in your daily life, so actually loosing it can mean you are under pressures, not being able to focus. You need to find that car and get behind the wheel!!!!!
At least your car and camera where there when you woke up!!!!

Creflors: Wow...
I have two recurring travel-related dreams.
1. The plane I'm on, always a jumbo jet, is about to go down and I can see the treetops rushing up at us.
2. I'm running through the long white-tiled corridor at LAX trying to catch a flight and I'm not going to make it. I've had this one since my teens even though my home airports have always been SFO or Oakland. When I am at LAX and have to walk down this corridor, I really get the creeps.

I think some of these dreams, especially the ones that are recurring, are an expression of general anxiety recast into a familiar scenario.
When I traveled a lot on business, I used to have a recurring anxiety dream that I couldn't find my hotel room. I'd be in one of those multi-tower hotels where there are different elevator banks, and I couldn't find the one that went to my floor, etc. I put it down to general stress, and haven't had that particular dream for many years.

Well, as you can imagine, a jet, jumbo or otherwise, going down, is NOT a good thing..the plane is your spiritual awakening, so you just have to look at your life and the people in it and see what the application might be. The color white is truth and purity..a hallway or corridor if it's narrow can keep you on the right track, and whether it's light or dark reflects whether you are seeing clearly what you are dealing with..so white is good...the passageway to insite. Why LA? I have no clue.

Same dream--usually just prior to traveling. I'm at the airport and realize I've forgotten my passport. I spend an inordinate amount of time (in "dream time," anyway)figuring out the best route to go home and get it (or do I send someone? Or do I go WITH someone?) and get back in time to catch my flight. Never, in my dream, do I recognize the option to change to a later flight! ALso, the airport is always the same, but never one I recognize.

I'm not analyzing anyones dreams and you are right, I don't know them and that's why I don't. You have to apply whats happening in your own life. All they are is a teaching tool. One can believe or not as you choose..no big deal. It works for me. Freud thought everything had to do with sex. Well, if you buy that, fine..no problem, it doesn't work for me. So relax Marilyn, nothing earth shattering going on here.

It's always such a relief to wake up and know that I still have a few hours sleep.
