Back from London - thanks for the helpful advice
Hello-
We just returned from a 4 day trip to London. Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to go when I asked about 3 days in London (we ended up extending it to 4). We had an amazing time, and I LOVE London, even more than I thought I would!
We stayed at the Thistle Royal Horseguards, which is a wonderful 4 star hotel near the Embankment tube station. I would highly recommend staying there. We were fortunate enough to get a price of $100 per night on Priceline, but I think it would normally cost a lot more than that. The hotel was very fancy (not the usual type of place that we can afford
. The staff was wonderful, and the room was very large with lots of ammenities. The concierge was even able to get us tickets to the Lion King, which was sold out, and they were excellent seats. We were also able to purchase tickets for the attractions (Tower of London, London Eye) at the hotel, so we didn't have to wait in any lines.
We did as many things as we could fit into 4 days, but now I really want to go back to see all of the things that we missed! I will add another trip to London to my travel "wish list" - which is already miles long
Thanks again to all of you who answered my questions-
Melissa

Hi Melissa: Glad to see that you had a great time. Thanks for the recommendation for the Horseguards. It is always good to let people know how your hotel fared, as it helps us put together an excellent database of good places to stay. Just see my previous postings re just back from London. Now to deal with the depression of coming home, eh? That's when I start planning the next trip, beginning by making a list of things I didn't have time for on this trip. Have a great day as you dream of a return visit.
Dale

Glad you had a great trip. I'm still thinking about my long weekend last spring to London and remember how hard it is to come home but luckily we have fodors to hear everyone's experiences so we can relive ours until the next time. I happened to find a BBC news station while flipping through the TV channels the other day and it helps to give you a daily fix on that wonderful English accent.....
