BA Strict on Checked Luggage?

My wife and I want to carry all of our stuff in one checked bag. I notice BA has limits on checked luggage size. How strict are they on enforcing this limit?

len
no one can answer that question definitively for you. YOu can call BA to ask their advice, but for every person that says they were able to check their Volvo in checked luggage there'll be someone who says they couldn't check their 20" wheelie.
I can tell you that I experience that they are very strict with the weight
(not just size, weight) of carryons-it was only 11 pounds I believe and many carryon bags weigh that much empty.
I had to suddenly pull my essentials out of my carryon, put them in a shopping bag for the plane, and check the bag. And that was long before last 9/11.

I have to say, BA proved to be the most strict of any carrier I've been on - and there are many believe me.

If it doesn't fit that teeny little baggage sizer, or, it's over 31kg, forget about it.

that's my experience...

but do call anyway..

My experience with BA (also pre 9/11) is they are very strict. They were very polite about it. But there was no way, no how I was going to get by that weight issue. I had to take out the bare essentials and check my over the shoulder 'carry-on' piece of luggage.

We fly BA from the west coast to Europe and they are strict. Don't mess with them is my advise. You might be better off with 2 checked bags (since there are 2 of you anyway) and not one huge/cumbersome monster sized bag. As for carryon, they mean what they say.

whoops, typo.

meant to say 13 KG carryon.

and, strictly two bags only to check, or you pay more.

I had three small bags this last trip. They were not really heavy, but, I didn't want to lug even one around (carryon) on my trip home. At that point, heading home, I always try to check cuz who cares if they lose it - they always find it and I HAVE underwear at home, it isn't like I am outta luck!

anyway, they would prefer two HUMUNGO checked in bags, to 3 small ones (carryon size all, just, 3 of them).

so beware.

grumble.

Beth
