There is no weight restriction for cabin luggage on BA, only size limitations. I know because I asked this same question about a month ago! The carry on weight restriction was apparently removed when the limits for checked luggage were tightened.

yes - in the "old days" I had a hard time doing carry-on only on BA w/ its strict 6 kilo limit for cabin bags in coach. Bu that was discontinued when the carry on rules were changed last year.

I'm curious if airlines actually weigh your carryons? I've never seen that. I was sort of holding my breath on our recent Venice/Amsterdam Transavia flight. They allow only 5 Kgs per person for carry on. I had put the heavier items in the backpack and in my other carry on, hoping not to go over the 20 kg limit of checked luggage. I have little doubt that my packpack weighed considerably more than 5 kg, but no one every weighed it -- and I saw others with carryons it looked like they could barely lift!

Virgin weigh carry on, they are very strict on it. EasyJet used to, I don't know if they still do - I once had to check my laptop because it was 2oz over 5 lbs! Transavia do in theory, but I've never had my bag weighed. I believe Icelandair also weigh checkin baggage.

I flew BA recently. Theitr website said there was a weight limit for carry on, so I repacked my hand baggage and added more into my checked case. Then they never bothered to weigh it.
However, they seem quite inconsistent as to what rules they enforce when.
