B&B in Prien

We will be spending a few weeks in Bavaria. Would like to find a small moderate priced lodging in Prien am Chiemsee

Barbara, does it have to be in Prien? Or are you just looking to stay on Chiemsee? If Prien, you might want to look into the Luitpold am See. None of the lodging actually on the lake is going to be inexpensive, but if you think DM 160-200 is moderate, this might work for you. If you want charming, check on Zur Linde on the Fraueninsel (no cars - get there by ferry). It dates from around 1400, is very quiet, only about 15 rooms, good restaurant. Rooms run about the same price as the Luitpold. You might also want to check out www.seebruck.de, which lists hotels, pensions, gasthauses, B&Bs, etc., with lots of photos and price lists (and good Bavarian music). Seebruck is across the lake from Prien, but lovely. Good luck...

Barbara, Just south of Prein is an amazing antique store. I'm sorry but I can't give you a specific address. All I can say for sure is that if you're coming to Prein from the south, just after you leave the autobahn and are on Prein's outskirts you will see it on the right side of the road. It's a big barn like building that is simply packed with amazing things to see.

Sorry I can't help with lodging as I have relatives there and we always stay with them.

Cheers, the turnip

Barbara,
We just returned from two weeks in Bavaria and Austria. The number one place we stayed on the whole trip was in Bernau just off the Autobahn junction of Prien. It is only about 3 or 4 miles from Prien. The Gasthof is called Kampenwand in Aschauerstr 12. It was quiet, clean, comfortable and the food was great. A double room cost 100DM with breakfast included. It is also easy to find. If I remember correctly it is the first street to the right after you come into town from the Autobahn.
