Azores in winter
I will be in Portugal in January and February next year and was wondering whether it is worth going to the Azores for a few days? I know it's not the best time to visit, but it's the only time I have, as I have commitments from March onwards. I understand that many things are closed in winter and the weather isn't the best. I would really just want to see it (I've wanted to go for a long time), practise my Portuguese, go for walks and explore. I know it will be too cold for the beach or anything like that, which is fine, but I don't really want to go if it's likely to be overcast and raining the whole time (think Ireland in winter). Has anyone been in winter and what did you think?

I've been there in June, July, and August over a number of years but never in winter. Even in summer it can be overcast, rainy, and blowy and, of course, sunny. It is very changeable with clouds blowing in constantly. I'd say go ! Who knows, it may be sunny all of the few days you're there. And, please report back on the weather you find !

Thanks for the info! I've been researching online and it seems like a 50/50 split between people saying it would be crazy to go in winter and people saying it's totally fine. I would love to see it at its best but I have no idea if/when I'll be able to go again, so I think I'll probably go for it!
