Austrian Arlines

Just returned from Prague and Vienna (trip report to follow in a few days). But, I want to go "on record" to say that Austrian Airlines may very well be the best airline I have ever flown on in economy class!!! In may ways I felt like I was flying 35 years ago before the US airline industry fell apart. Clean cabins, clean seats(imagine that), friendly and knowledgeable staff, a hot and tasty breakfast on a 1.75 hour AM flight ..... I just missed the real siverware..... I will fly them again!

I am so glad to hear that. We are flying home from Munich on Austrian Airlines next May, MUC-VIE-IAD-RDU in economy class.

I was able to fly business class on Austrian Airlines in 2006, and it was the best experience on a plane that I've ever had.

We flew on Austrian Airlines from Chicago to Vienna in June and second your experience. I had forgotten how the simple things like a clean plane and a smile and hello from the staff can make the flying experience much more enjoyable.

I'm another huge fan of Austrian Airlines. It's the only airline that serves Almduedler (Austrian herbal/kraeuter soda). Yum!

I guess the Airline matches the country........CLEAN!

Those that ever stayed at an Austrian Gasthaus would probably agree!

Hmmm...my Austrian Airlines flight was probably the worst I've ever been on. Of course, I can't blame Austrian Airlines for the twin two year olds that cried (screamed would probably be a better term) for, oh, at least 85% of the flight to Vienna. But discounting that little fact, I was impressed with the airline and the food was surprisingly decent.

I agree - we were bowled over by the service, the food, the legroom - even for 6 foot husband - and the helpful staff. We'd forgotten what it was like to be treated like living people on a plane in economy class. Praising it to our hotel manager, he said it was not making money - like so many smaller national airlines - and was looking for a partner. So enjoy it while you can.
