Austria 5 days

Hi,
on the end of my trip to Europe we have 5 days to spend in Austria (from 14 to 19 june 2009). Our ideia is to stay a couple of nights in Vienna, one night in Linz, one or two night in Salzburg (need to be there on my last night).

Any other ideia how to distribute my days in Austria?
Suggestions where to go?

Many many thanks
Cris and David

Perhaps you can tell us what your interests are?

Also, where will you be right before June 14; and where are you heading to (or flying out from) after June 19?

I recently spent 5.5 days in Vienna (my 2nd time there), and I still didn't manage to see everything I had wanted to.

Hi Yk,
We'll be arriving in Vienna 8am on the 14th june and need to take a flight back at 9am on the 19th.

We will spend a week in France and a week in Italy before Austria and we're going to a lot of old castles, churches, very little old places.

I though that our trip in Autria could be more sightseeing. We definatelly want to stay a couple of days in Vienna at least, we live in New Zealand so we need to see as much as we could (not rush) on those five days.

Many thanks
Cris

With only 5 days, I'd split my time between Vienna and Salzburg. Agree with yk - there's a lot to see and do in Vienna and you will barely scratch the surface in 3 days. And Salzburg is a beautiful city. The city centre of Linz is nice and the cog railway up to the castle is pleasant and gives some great views on a clear day, but otherwise it's fairly industrial. With your time constraints, I'd skip it on this trip.

Hi guys, thank you so much for your help. I already booked two nights in Vienna (Pension Aviano), is a good ideia to spend one night in Hallstatt and the last two in Salzburg?
Cheers
Cris

Only if you enjoy moving around a lot

Visit Halstatt from Salzburg as a daytrip.

Absolutely get to Hallstatt if you can! I was there exactly one week ago and it was fabulous! They are doing some construction/restoration work in the center right now, but I would still recommend a visit without hesitation.
