IF you wanted an easier alternative in terms of transportation, Terezin is an easy daytrip to make from Prague. Wittman tours is one organization that offers guided trips. Terezin was not a camp with gas chambers, it was considered a transit camp for those on the way to camps farther east, but the vast majority of its inhabitants died right there of disease, starvation, and overwork. It also had a unique history as a 'model' camp--an elaborate charade was put on for Red Cross inspectors.
The buildings of the camp and the nearby prison are still standing, as are many of the indoor 'facilities'.

I, too, have visited Terezin. It is very easy to reach from Prague. My hotel had multiple listings for tour companies that visit Terezin daily. You can get a tour at the Cedok Office on Na Prikope.
I did not use elaine's Wittmann Tours, but I do know that they do conduct private tours of Auschwitz from Prague. The tour is very expensive, however.
