Information required on Barcelona and Brugges

Thinking of visiting Brugges and Barcelona on consecutive weeks in september. I am going all alone and dont have any idea what I am going to do. Please suggest, where to stay, enjoy nightlife, culture and also what not to do. I am 23 years old.

I am thinking of staying in hostels and find some companionship to move forward and enoy.

You might base yourself in nearby Ghent instead. It's a lively university town with a bit more to do. Bruges, while pretty, just felt rather touristy to me and gets rather quiet after all the day trippers leave. A number of people on this forum also prefer Antwerp. I've not been there myself, but I'd give it a close look, too. Or if you'd prefer, spend 2-3 nights in each since you have a week.

Brugges is gorgeous - but is very small for a full week. Agree to stay in Ghent and see Brugges and other nearby cities from there.

Do some research on these cities. You can start with Fodors Destinations, far left on the orange bar at the top of this page. There's lots of information on the Internet. And in guidebooks.

Why did you pick these two cities? You must have had some reason.

You will find a convivial meeting place atmosphere in Bruges st the Snuffle Youth Hotel.

Just curious: Why these 2 cities? If I were traveling on my own I might have picked 2 cities that were closer together to make it easier to get to... Are you flying from Barcelona to Brussels?

I've been to both Bruges and Ghent, and would definitely recommend staying in Ghent and doing daytrips to Bruges and Antwerp if you desire. The people were so friendly in Ghent

Bruges or Brugge, not Brugges.
I would not spend a week there, especially as a 23 year old.
Spend a night or two, then get the train to. Antwerp, Rotterdam or Amsterdam for some (night)life.
