Attacks on tourists in Dublin

Dublin is generally quite a safe city to visit but in recent weeks there have been a number of nasty and gratuitously violent attacks on tourists in and around O'Connell Street, Temple Bar and the Liffey Boardwalk." US tourist Stephen Termini has uttered his first words since coming out of a coma at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

The 57-year-old from Buffalo, New York is making slow progress every day, his son has said.

His two adult sons Mike and Jesse Rizzuto arrived in Ireland shortly after an attack on their father left him fighting for his life.

Mr Termini suffered severe injuries when he was beaten in an attack on Talbot Street in the city centre on July 19. "

This from a court appearance this week.

" A Dublin mother accused of repeatedly kicking an unconscious US tourist in the face during a “vicious” robbery has been refused bail and sent forward for trial.

Sarah Dunne, 31, who is of no fixed address, but previously had accommodation in Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, was charged with assault causing harm to the holiday-maker and robbing him on April 27 at Oliver Bond Street, Dublin 8. "
The attacks have prompted US Embassy officials in Dublin to issue advice on maintaining safety.

Sadly another attack this weekend has brought the matter fresh attention." THREE BRITISH TOURISTS were hospitalised after they were attacked and allegedly robbed in the Temple Bar area of Dublin last night.

The incident happened shortly after 10pm – it is understood that the three men, who are understood to be English were taken by ambulance to hospital.

Sources have said they sustained broken noses and cuts and grazes – it is understood one of the men suffered a broken eye socket.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that gardaí are investigating the incident.

“Gardaí received report of an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 10:05pm last night on Fownes Street Upper, Dublin 2.

“Three men aged in their 20s were conveyed to St James’s Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of this incident. "

Folks, enjoy your visit to our wonderful city but please be vigiliant.Really vigilant.
Ask your hotel receptionist for specific areas and streets to avoid and use taxis after dark if you're not sure of the area.
