ATM woes:(

Check with your bank before you go. I finally used my debit/ATM card for the first time in the US and couldn't get $350. I called the bank and asked about it. When they issued the card they put a $300 US limit on it without telling me. I asked them to increase the limit , and they gladly did. I used credit cards everywhere on my last trip. You can get free TC's from AAA if you are a member or AX if you are a platinum member. I always take some with me for emergencies. I take apx. $200 cash in case I get stuck in an airport, etc., TC's and about 4 credit cards, so if I lose one, I can still spend plenty! I will probably take a few Euros in case the ATM isn't working at the airport on arrival. Also, last trip to Europe, I made a large purchase on my AT&T universal card, now citybank, and they left a message at my home in the US for me to call them and until I did, I couldn't use my card. Now, I call the credit card company and have them put my trip dates in my file. Someone on this board advised using Capital One because Citibank charges the 3%, so I will use AX and Capital One this time. I only used my ATM once on my last trip, but it worked fine, so I plan to use it more this trip. Kay
