Glad you got it sorted iowamom. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Sassy27, how do you know your card was skimmed in Scotland and not at home before you left. Skimming has practically died out in Europe due to the use of chips on both credit and debit cards.

The reason we have to inform our banks that we are travelling outside Europe is because of the huge fraud risk in countries like the US.

heti - My ATM card does not have a chip in it. It was skimmed at the Edinburgh airport because I never use it for purchases only to withdraw cash. It was used around Edinburgh when I was not there. My mom was with me and it also happened to her as that is the only time we used the same ATM machine ( I only used it twice before noticing). It could have been skimmed back at home in the US for the thief to then travel to Edinburgh at the same time as us. That to me is hard to believe.

I did contact the airport who passed it over to the police. I gave them exact details along with bank prints to say it was that machine. They said they would pull the security video footage to review it. They came back and told me the camera had been disconnected so there was no video. Sounds awful strange to me and they have yet to get back to me and it will be a year next month.
