I just returned last week from 3 weeks in Greece & Turkey. Was in Athens during the quake. Most of the damage was in the northern suburbs at one of the factories. In the downtown area some bricks and masonry fell onto the streets and caused some damange to cars parked in the streets but it looked not wide spread. At the hotel I was staying at near the Airport (south of town) we had some damage - - cracks in the wall, a broken window, some plaster fell off of the wall but nothing that made them close down the building. I did hear that there might have been some damage to some artifacts in the Archaeological Museum but I don't know how significant it was. I don't think they closed the museum. There had been no impact to transportation that I could see - - I think their subway was still running and the airport had no problems. It didn't appear that Athens even slowed down. Hope that helps.

Just returned from 3 days in Athens last night. We did not notice any apparent damage from the earthquake -but the previous post may explain why the second floor of the National Archeological Museum was closed.

FYI, there's a lively hosted forum going on right now about the Greek Islands, with a posting on earthquakes.
