Athens/Istanbul March

Have the option to go to Athens/Istanbul next March. Weather is putting me off. Anyone got good things to say about it?

When in March do you plan to travel? Don't know about Athens but Istanbul weather should be lovely, by end March/April the tulips should also be out, said to be a beautiful sight.

Athens is great during March, the weather is ideal. Not too cold not too warm, temperate climate.

Thank you for that vote of confidence. It will be the first week of March.
I would ideally like to hear from someone who has been there at that time of year.

I'm headed to Istanbul the end of March. I'm hoping for lovely early spring-like weather, not too cold and not too warm.

Let's hope you DO find good weather. When I was there in Aprt there was a massive cold front moving south out if Russia that lasted 2 weeks. It was freezing! I went south to Bodrum to find some sun and was finally able to get warm. The tulips were beautiful.

Indeed. A friend who was in Istanbul last March said they had rain for the first 3 days then snow on the 4th.
I am fragile when it comes to cold weather but I don't want to miss the opportunity of a little trip... Thinking of getting the ferry from Athens to Crete for another week or so... should be OK as it is one of the most southerly parts of Europe.... Any thoughts Brotherlee?

No one can reassure you I'm afraid, it is a very unpredictable month! That goes for all your suggested destinations.
I have lived in Greece for 8 years, March brings rain, wind, cold, sun, warm, you name it, you could get it!
You say youare fragile in cold weather, how cold do you mean? What we would consider cold here may not be cold to you. I can say it will not be beach weather, maybe for a brisk walk only!

You are so right yiassas. I like temperatures above 20C but if there is sunshine that goes a long way. Not looking for beach weather in March!
Still wondering whether/weather or not.
